Open bite

When the teeth of the upper jaw have no overlap with the teeth of the lower jaw when you bite. The open bite, is a problem that can be skeletal, dental, or both together. It can be displayed as the anterior open bite when viewed in the front teeth or posterior when the back teeth are not in contact either on one side or on both sides. This situation is usually caused by prolonged thumb-sucking from the child beyond the age of 4 years old or by faulty swallowing due to hypertrophic tonsils and adenoids. The early onset of orthodontic treatment since the age of 6 or 7 years is required.
